Outing in the Stroller

After 4 days at home with a few little outings, I decided that today was the day for a walk with Carson, the dog and THE STROLLER.  Why is the STROLLER such a big deal?  Because Ginger is quite frightened of the thing, and I wasn’t sure how this was going to go.

I really wanted to move around and get out of the house, and I really wanted Ginger to get some exercise too.  Ben suggested I just try the walk with Carson, but I wanted all of us to go.  Since it is in the 70’s today and temperatures will plummet to the 40’s tomorrow I had to go today.  I couldn’t wait for Ben to be off of work either because it gets dark so early now.  Today was the day for the walk.

After Carson ate his first afternoon snack, I changed him, I put on “real” clothes and SHOES, yes I put on shoes today!  I got out the stroller, strapped Carson into the car seat, got Ginger all strapped up and headed out the door.

Here is Ginger waiting for us outside.  She was ready to get out of the house.

And here is Carson.  Unsure of what was going on, and hiding his face from the camera.  I think he’s getting sick of me putting the camera in his face all the time.

I wish I could have had someone taking some video of us as we walked down the street.  Ginger is not an easy dog to walk.  She pulls like a 100 pound dog would and so trying to push a stroller with one hand and having Ginger pull me in the other direction in an attempt to get as far away from the dreaded stroller as possible was hilarious.  Ginger soon started to realize that she was not going to escape the stroller and aside from a few moments where she almost pulled my arm out of socket wanting to go play with the dogs we passed, she did a good job.  I am quite proud of my little dog.

The streets in our neighborhood aren’t the smoothest.  And we only have sporadic sidewalks.  At times today the sidewalks were great, but when they suddenly drop off and I have to take the stroller down off the curb it becomes a nuisance.  Carson whined a little when we stopped and waited for traffic, but by the end of it he was asleep and is currently still asleep in the car seat.
