9 Months

9 months and 9 days, actually.  But the day after Carson’s 9 month birthday we were on our way back from California for my cousin Katie’s wedding. In the Denver airport on our way to catch our connecting flight to Amarillo Ben was offered a job in Houston, which he accepted. So, we will be leaving Amarillo sometime in the next few months and moving down south. Amarillo has been so good to us, and we are incredibly sad to leave. I tell you all of this to explain my tardiness in getting this 9 month update posted.

Here are some shots of our trip out west.  It was Carson’s first time in Richvale, where my mom grew up.  I love being out there.  We took a walk one morning and as we passed some of the huge rice farming equipment 3 year-old Beckett says, “I love rice bins.”  It was hilarious.  You don’t think so?  You probably had to be there.

Carson lasted all of 10 minutes at the wedding ceremony, not because he was crying but because making noise in the sanctuary of a church is way more fun than a small space.  He had a great time visiting with his cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents and great grandparents.

This scene of my dad with two less than happy little boys made me think of this picture of me and my cousin Keelah with my great grandma.  We were also less than happy here about 28 years ago…yikes.

Maren being adorable.  So incredibly adorable.

What was this post supposed to be about?  Oh yeah, so Carson had his 9 month check up last week. He is 17 pounds 8 ounces which puts him in the 7th percentile for weight. He is 28 1/2 inches long, in the 59th percentile. The only shot he had to get was his HepB and he didn’t even cry! I thought he was going to. He got that pre-freak out frown on his face, but then he was fine.

Carson has 1 tooth, with number 2 peeking it’s way through.  This second tooth is causing everyone in our house much distress.  Sunday night felt like I had a newborn again.  He was up every 2-3 hours and had close to a 103 fever Monday morning.  By the end of the day he was fever free, but not his usual happy self.  I’m hoping we don’t experience this every time he has a new tooth.  I keep trying to get a picture of it, but if I get that close with a camera his hand is soon in the way trying to grab the lens.

Carson is “crawling”.  He drags his tummy on the ground picking up every stray dog hair and piece of dirt on our floors making me all too aware of my need to sweep more often.  He gets around pretty quickly despite his inability to get his torso off the ground.  My sweet friend gave me one of those baby corrals, so that has helped keep him in a contained area and away from Ginger’s food and water bowls in the kitchen.

Carson LOVES other kids.  He kept screaming at a little boy in front of us in line at Target yesterday trying desperately to get his attention.  Here he is playing with his friend Jack.  I think this is just so sweet.
