Carson’s Cowboy Birthday

Howdy, y’all!  Special thanks goes out to everyone who helped make this cowboy party so very wonderful!  There is no way I could have pulled it off alone, and it wouldn’t have been so great without all the family and friends who came out to celebrate.  Thanks for making Carson’s 1st birthday party such a special day for him and us!

When I first began thinking about this party, 3 or 4 months ago at least, I am pretty sure that Ben rolled his eyes at me when I said the work “theme“.  I know the idea of throwing a big party for a 1 year old is a bit silly.  But I admit that this was not just a party for Carson, and in my defense I didn’t go way overboard…in my opinion.  I did have moments when I thought things like, “Oh, wouldn’t it be fun to have hay bales as seating?” and “It would be so great to have a few miniature ponies in the yard!” or “What if we hired a guy to do some roping tricks?”.

The party was cowboy themed complete with a a cow cake, cow balloons, cowboy cookie party favors, frito pie, baked beans, and lots of boots and bandannas.  Yeehaw!  I really enjoyed thinking about and putting this party together and am so very glad that we did it.  Lisa did all the paper goods from the adorable invites to the sheriff star cupcake toppers, and those touches made all the difference.

The centerpiece of the party was the dessert table.  Birthday cake, cupcakes, and s’more pops.  I loved the way this banner turned out.  I need to save it and use it again.  Those of you who know my family will probably smile at the fact that it is still hanging up in the kitchen at my parents house.

Eating Birthday Cake

I love this picture, not because the lighting is just right, or because it is so precious.  I like it because he is truly stuffing his face…and this is how my child eats most of the time.

Opening Presents

Carson was not as in to this as I had thought he’d be.  He ripped a few pieces of wrapping paper, and grabbed a piece of tissue or two.  But mostly he just watched me open them.

I cannot wait to get him in the tub with this!

Carson’s 1st birthday was wonderful.  I am incredibly thankful for him and for the people who love him.  We are blessed.
