Selling the House, Settling Down, 3rd Trimester and Some Carson Pics

When I get behind in something, like this blog for example, it is hard to get caught up and so daunting in fact that I even find myself not catching up because there’s so much to catch up on.  So, it has been hard to write this blog post and you must forgive me for bad grammar, poor writing and poorly edited photos.  On that note, here’s what’s been going on!

We closed on the Amarillo house on June 19 and are now in the process of looking for a home to buy here in Houston!  A month ago I wrote a post about how I wanted to sell our house quickly and find a home here with ease and be all ready for baby girl in September.  At the time I thought it was just wishful thinking.  It is amazing to me how God works things out, even during those times of doubt.  We closed on the Amarillo house 2 weeks after we signed the contract and are close (hopefully) to signing a contract on a home here and should be able to move in by early to mid August!  Now, lots of things still need to fall in place for that to really and truly happen, but our situation is not looking like it did a month ago and we don’t have two house payments!  Our landlord has even agreed to let us out of our lease a little early so that we can move if we end up closing on a house.  God is really and truly and always perfectly good.  Even if it all falls apart, I know that’s still true.

We’re looking forward to settling down.  It’s been hard to find a church here since we haven’t known where we were going to be living permanently.  If we went to a church near our rent house, that would mean a 30-45 minute drive to church from Sugar Land, where we’re hoping to move.  Maybe our church in Amarillo spoiled us, but we want to be able to not only have a place to go on Sunday mornings, but friends who we can get together with and share our lives with all the time.  I will be forever grateful for our church in Amarillo for  providing us with such an amazing small group who was always there for each other.  We’ve visited a couple churches in Sugar Land, but are still looking.

Today I am 30 weeks along, so we are well into the third trimester with only about 10 weeks to go!  Carson came to the doctor with me last week and did well considering we were there for 2 hours.  I was measuring small so she had me get a quick sonogram to make sure baby girl was growing well, and baby girl is in the 58% so we’re in good shape.  I’m still feeling ok and haven’t yet started to feel super tired or worn out.  I’m looking into girly crib bedding and absolutely hate that they can charge so much for such a small amount of material!  I talked with my mom about it and she offered a bunch of white eyelet fabric that she used as curtains in the room Sarah and I shared as little girls.  I’d love to be able to get a skirt and bumper out of some of the fabric and be able to tell our daughter that the same fabric was in mommy’s room as a little girl.  I love nostalgia.

If we move to a new house, we’ll be doing it at the beginning of August.  In Houston.  Anyone interested in sweating buckets and being completely miserable can help us out!  I promise to provide sustenance for those kind and brave enough to take on the challenge.

The latest developments with Carson.

  • He continues to build his vocabulary, using more consonants in his words.
  • He asks for things by name. “Mommy, cookie?” and “Mommy, na (snack)?” are the ones I hear most often!
  • He also asks for things by screaming and shrieking.
  • He loves to watch Super Why.  He’ll point to the TV and say “why” when he wants to watch it.  This morning they were spelling words and asking what letters they were showing.  They showed “B” and asked, “What letter is this?” and Carson says “B!” and then did the same thing with “T”!  Or maybe he said the same thing and since T and B sound kind of the same I chose to think my child was a genius instead of the alternative…
  • He likes to be thrown onto the bed, or flipped over backwards.  We usually count “one, two, three” when we do it so he says “two, tee!” when we wants to play.
  • He has proved himself to be a handful at restaurants.  The past couple times we’ve gone out for a meal it has been rough.

Here are some of the latest iPhone photos of the little guy.
