I went to the doctor Tuesday. 2 cm dilated, 60% effaced and her head was low. You wanted to know all that, right? I’ll bet you did.
As I have read many times and as I’ve been told by many people, that basically means nothing. It does mean that I’ll have a baby in the next 3 weeks or so, so that is good news. The doctor asked if I’d be interested in being induced at 39 weeks. I said no. Why? I don’t know. I guess I just kind of want it to happen when it’s supposed to. At the same time I wouldn’t really mind if I were to go into labor right this very moment. So why I turned down an opportunity to possibly have this baby before 40 weeks, I have to blame mixed emotions. She said I was free to change my mind and let her know next week. If I start to feel super uncomfortable I might just choose take her up on the offer. We shall see.
37 weeks and 2 days
Over the last week I’ve made some freezer meals (2 soups, tomato basil macaroni and cheese and sweet potato and chicken burritos) as well as a batch of banana bran muffins and I even managed to freeze half a pan of cake batter blondies! I saved the rest for immediate consumption, of course. I made some freezer meals when I was pregnant with Carson and it was very nice to take something out of the freezer the night before and know I wouldn’t have to worry about dinner the next night. I have a feeling that those crazy days where I can’t make it to the grocery store or just don’t have the opportunity to cook will be more frequent this time around, so I will be even more thankful for these meals.
I’ve done some “nesting” recently. With the help of a sweet friend and her 3 sweet daughters, Baby Girl’s room is pretty much ready to go. I am planning to take some pictures of that to share as soon as I can remember to take my camera upstairs. It shouldn’t be that hard, but for some reason it is. On Wednesday I vacuumed and mopped most of the downstairs and washed windows. I’ve felt more energetic, but I think part of me is just trying to make myself go into labor by forcing those feelings that people sometimes get before the baby comes. I remember taking the shades off of the light fixtures in our bathrooms in Amarillo and scrubbing them the day before I went into labor with Carson. I also scrubbed baseboards that day and then we had people over to watch the Aggies and eat spicy Thai food. Maybe I should get some Thai food and do some more scrubbing…
Carson had a haircut last week. It was so desperately needed. We had a 50% off coupon to Snip Its, and I’m glad we did. $10 instead of $20! Neesha was Carson’s stylist and did a great job of getting him through the cut and making him look like a little man!
I’m pretty sure we went through about 6 of these dum dums during the ordeal. He dropped one and got hair on a few others. It kept him happy. I’ll have to remember that trick if we decide to try to trim his hair at home.
Last week we went swimming at the pool near our house. The baby pool slopes from 6 inches to 12 so Carson was able to be in there without any help from me (other than supervision, of course, don’t get too worried). This wound up being one of his favorite things to do.
One of his favorite things to do with his toys is to try to pack all the smaller ones into the bigger ones. He gets pretty upset when they get too full and the ones he puts on top just fall off.
And here is the little guy on his cell phone.
