A Boy and His Dog

Outside was the answer to all of Carson’s problems today.  And Ginger had a pretty great time, too!  Today was one of those days where I thought, “Why am I doing this?”  Betsy was hard.  From 7:30am til 12:30pm she slept a total of 45 minutes.  Most of the time that she was up she was happy, but screamed her head off for a good hour in her crib when I’d put her down for a nap.  I’d wait 10 minutes, go up and calm her down, then as soon as I’d lay her back down she’d start crying again.  On the bright side, she went down tonight without a single scream.  She moved around a bunch and is currently in a position 90° from where she started and is out of her swaddle, but she’s asleep.  Carson is really being 2 these days.  This morning he wanted to play a game on the computer, Umi Zoomi bike race of course.  I said we had to get a new diaper and clothes before we did anything else. He said, “No, mommy.  Umi Zoomi.”  I had to drag him into the other room to get dressed.  Later on he hit Betsy and I scolded him.  He said, “Time out!” and walked over to the time out spot.  He’s also started screaming incredibly loud and banging things when he’s frustrated.  It’s crazy around here.

Despite the day we had, all I can of right now is how much I love those two.  I watched the episode of Downton Abbey today where Sybil dies after giving birth to her baby girl.  I was crying my eyes out.  I looked down at Betsy and told her how thankful I was for her.  I know the show is fictional and I know that makes me a super cheeseball, but that has happened to more people than I want to know.  Babies lose their mothers, mothers lose their babies.  Husbands lose their wives and wives lose their husbands.  I had a hard day, but I am blessed beyond words.
