My Cute Date

Carson was my date to Phil and Shawnee’s wedding on Saturday.  He didn’t even make it to the start of the ceremony.  You can probably tell from this picture that he wasn’t too excited about anything.  I tried to have him sit with me, armed with water, snacks and toy cars, but he wanted to get down, then be held, then get down, then get in my lap, and so on.  My dad ended up taking him to walk around the fountains instead.  Thanks, dad!

Our time in Sacramento has been rather rough.  I have a suite with one separate bedroom, and that is where I am sleeping with Betsy.  Carson has been sharing the bed in the living room with Sarah.  Sarah has been a trooper dealing with Carson feet in her face during the night.  Thanks, Sarah!  Naps have been short for Carson since I’ve had to lay down with him and can only do that if Betsy is also sleeping.  She’s been napping poorly also, so Carson hasn’t gotten good sleep during the day which translates into a rather fussy guy in the evening.  When Betsy wakes up in the morning (around 5:30) Carson also wakes up, so he is getting much less sleep than his usual 12 hours.  So we are are an unrested bunch.

After the wedding ceremony we brought Carson back to the hotel to stay with the babysitter Aunt Susan had arranged for Betsy.  She was wonderful.  I was able to stay at the reception and visit with family instead of heading back to the hotel myself.  Thank you, Emma!

And even with all the not so easy things we are dealing with, I am so we glad came.  Things get harder once you have kids, but it has been worth it to be here for Phil’s wedding.  Congratulations to the new happy family!
