So Pensive

This picture makes me smile.  If you know Carson, you know he didn’t pose for this, which makes is even funnier.  We spent quite a bit of time outside today.  I took the double stroller out for a “jog” (well, maybe more of a quick walk) this morning.  Then I brought a quilt outside for Betsy and I to sit on while Carson ran wild. He was pretty interested in sitting on the “bwane queen” with us, with occasional trips around the yard.  After lunch and naps we came back outside for a while.  Carson and I got to watch two lizards having a battle of dominance on the wall of the house.  I took a 6 minute video of it.  It was actually really interesting and the science teacher in me came out a little bit.

Betsy is getting a tooth! It’s barely sticking out, but giving her quite a bit of trouble. And so it’s giving me quite a bit of trouble as well.  Teething seems so painful.  I can only imagine it’s something like growing pains, and I vividly remember laying in bed and crying as a kid when I had those.  So you’d think I’d be a sweet sympathetic mother and just love on her, right?  Wrong.  I got so frustrated with her not taking an afternoon nap.  I had her on tylenol.  I had been up to her room multiple times to soothe her.  After an hour of that I said some nasty things to her about giving me a break and whatnot.  It’s a good thing little ones don’t remember what their parents say, but I still felt pretty guilty about being so impatient.  I can only hope I am the only mother who loses it from time to time (like everyday).

  • Talking about Grandpas house.  Me: “What kind of food do the deer eat?” Carson: “Ummm. Pretzels.”
  • Heard him praying in bed.  All I could make out was “Daddy.  Amen.”
  • Playing with my camera. “Everybody say cheese!”
  • At dinner, asking Carson what we wanted to thank God for.  Ben: “Thank you God for…” Carson: “Circle toy.”
