The Fan…
When the electrician got here (2 hours after he said he’d be here) he said our fan wasn’t rated for wet location. When we bought the fan we told the woman who helped us exactly what we were doing with the fan and so we only had a few options. The one we bought was top of the line, rated for wet location, can withstand hurricane winds and cost a pretty penny. So I called Ben, who also remembered being clear about what we needed when we bought the fan. So I called the light store. I won’t go into details, but she wasn’t exactly nice or understanding. She just said it was wet rated and that he should put it up. During this time the electrician starts to measure how far down the fan will drop. He warned me that it might hang too low. So I called Ben back, he called the store, talked to someone else, patched me in to the conversation, cleared up any problems with the wet location problem and then we discuss the possibility of exchanging the fan since it might not work in our space. It’s been more than 30 days, but she said we could exchange the fan. So then we make a plan of how I’m going to return this fan, get a new one, and bring it back home, hopefully quickly enough that the electrician will still have time to install it today. During that time the electrician put the fan up to give me an idea of how it will hang. Turns out it was fine. This is the picture I sent to Ben to make sure we agreed that is would work. So the electrical is done and we have a functioning fan and all is well with the world. But it was a really stressful morning.

Probably will be a family story retold over the years. Just making memories…
