School Stuff

Carson starts Children’s Day Out at The School for Little Children one week from today!  I went to the parent meeting tonight and met his teachers and some of the other parents of the kids that will be in his class.  It’s hard to believe it’s so close even though we’ve had this planned since last spring.  I’m not quite sure how I feel about it.  I’m going to miss him those two days of the week.  I’m sure I’ll get some things done that I wouldn’t have otherwise, I’ll get more one on one time with Betsy, and he’s going to have a blast, but it’s still hard.  It’s the first stage in really letting go with Carson.  He’ll be experiencing new things without me.  Learning new things without me.  And he’s going to come home telling me about events and things that I won’t have the context for.  All this time I thought I was an easy going mom, but it turns out I am pretty attached to this child and I have some control issues!  Ben could have told you that, though.

We had lunch at Chick fil A (of course!) with Shallan.  My kids were angels.  Then we spent some time at Home Goods looking at rugs for the bathroom.  I had no clue it would be so hard to find a coral patterned bath mat.  They were both again complete angels.  Sweet, little angels.  It was wonderful.  Carson was polite and struck up conversations with just about everyone we passed, he said good morning (even though it was after noon) and said excuse me when we passed people.  Betsy was happy and smiled at everyone.  We came home, watched an Umi Zoomi and the kids went down for naps and slept until 4 (Betsy) and 6 (Carson).  Today was kind of amazing.

Carrie and the girls came out this afternoon.  She helped me with some design woes.  We ate dinner, then I went to my meeting and they stayed with the kids.  Thank you, yet again, for saving the day Hartmans!  They left a little while after I got back.  While I was gone Carrie said that Carson was telling her a story, he paused, looked at her then asked, “And then you know what?” she said, “What, buddy?” and then he continued with the story.  I have never heard him do that, but I know for a fact that I do that with him when we’re talking.
