First school artwork

At Carson’s school they are having “red week” so he wore a red shirt today and made this lovely red collage!  They asked parents to bring red stuff that they could use.  I brought a big piece of this Spider Man wrapping paper.  They said it was a big hit with the boys!  Carson has no idea who Spider Man is, but he talks about him a lot now and even pointed him out on a t shirt a few days later.

School starts at 8:30 which means I am battling commuters on the way to school.  Last week it took me a solid 25 minutes (the same drive takes me a max of 15 at other times) so Ben suggested I go through the neighborhood and miss the really heavy congestion.  That was my plan, but when I left I was on autopilot and started going the normal way and I got stuck.  I was in a line of traffic that went through at least 8 cycles of lights before I got through.  I watched that light turn green, yellow and red without moving an inch multiple times.  It was so frustrating.  I finally got through, went through the neighborhood a different way than I’d planned and called the school to let them know we would be late.  She said a few people had the same problem which made me feel better.  When we got to school Carson cried and cried about going into the room, I think it was because one little boy was upset when we got there, and I don’t blame him for getting a little uncomfortable about going in there.  He ended up doing fine the rest of the day.  By the time Betsy and I got home it had been over an hour since the time we left.  I was beat.

While Carson was at school Betsy and I spent some time at home, she actually took a short morning nap which doesn’t happen everyday.  Then we had lunch and went to the grocery store before going to pick up Carson.  He took a nap at school this time and was still very tired after we got home.  I tried to get him to take a nap at home but he just sat in bed and never went to sleep.  But Betsy took a good afternoon nap.  I worked on a photo book for Betsy’s 1 year.  I made one for Carson and I want to make sure that I at least do that much for Betsy.  I probably won’t make one every year though, it takes a lot of time to sort through pictures, especially the way I take them…dozens of shots of the same thing for one good one.

At dinner tonight I noticed Carson had a red mark on his neck.  I asked him what happened and he said, “A dinosaur got me!”  I’d like to know the story behind that…
