Sleeping

Betsy took a morning nap today!  This doesn’t always happen.  And to make it even more out of the ordinary, she slept for 2 and a half hours.  I don’t know when I’ll stop thinking the worst when it comes to the kids sleeping for a long time.  Almost always I have a thought like, “There was something in the bed, they choked on it and…” or “They must’ve thrown up in their sleep and not been able to turn over and…”  I imagine going in to their rooms and having to call 911 because they’re unconscious.  I’m not sure how normal these thoughts are.  Maybe I have a problem?  I couldn’t help but go up to check on Betsy at the 2 hour mark just so that I could see that she was breathing.  And she was.  It was great for her (and me!)  to get in some solid daytime sleep.  I do wish I’d known it would’ve been that long, though.  I hesitate to start big jobs when the kids are asleep because I don’t ever know how much time I’m going to get.  Carson and I got to hang out while she slept, and when Carson went down for his nap Betsy stayed up with me.  So no time today by myself, but it was still good.  Other than a morning run we didn’t leave the house, which makes for a different type of day than when we squeeze naps and meals in between errands.

Tonight we went to our first community group meeting.  One of the couples in our group has girls of babysitting age so they stayed at the house with Carson and Betsy while we all went to our group.  I’m so thankful for them and their willingness to help us out.
