In the rain

It rained pretty much all day today.  We went outside to watch it this afternoon and Carson walked right out in the yard and had a blast getting wet and running around, which is kind of out of character. We all somehow ended up getting wet and despite my best efforts with one free hand and a small kitchen towel we all tracked water and mud inside onto my freshly cleaned floors.  Before kids that would’ve driven me crazy.  Well, even before Betsy it would’ve driven me crazy.  But it didn’t drive me crazy.  I wiped it up, and was really happy about how much fun we’d outside.  That doesn’t happen to me very often.  It felt really nice.

I bought Betsy a big girl car seat today.  It’s kind of beautiful, much nicer than Carson’s, which makes me feel bad, like we jipped him.  I had a 25% off coupon and a $10 coupon so it was a good deal.  When I put in the car I got giddy about it and that made me feel like a dork.  These are the things you get excited about when you’re a mom.  That and new vacuums!  Is that not all moms?  Just me?  Ok.  Anyway, after installing it I thought that the middle seat looked like it wasn’t as cozy as it used to be.  And sure enough, I cannot fit myself between the car seats unless I put my arms around the back, which isn’t too comfortable.  So I can only hope that being forward facing will mean Betsy won’t need anyone in the back with her during long car rides because I can only think of a few people I know who are going to fit back there, and I am not one of them.
