In the yard

We were going to go to the lake this weekend.  But then it rained a bunch and Ben had a ton of work to do.  So I took the kids up to Austin and Ben stayed in Houston to work.  Kind of lame for Ben, and we really missed him.  But I am so thankful to have the kind of relationship with my in laws that I can spend a weekend with them without my husband and come out at the end not only not hating them (or them hating me) but loving them more.  What a blessing.  I’m pretty sure I do not deserve them.

I got to Kate and Steve’s around noon on Saturday.  Betsy was a pain on the drive.  She’s in her new car seat and enjoyed the first half hour of the drive, looking around and being able to see everyone.  But then she got tired.  And she just wouldn’t (or maybe couldn’t) sleep.  So she cried much of the way.  At one point I wanted to throw something at her.  I resisted the temptation knowing that it would only make matters worse!  She fell asleep about 10 miles from their house.  Of course.

Today I got to see Sarah and Lane, Claire and Daniel, and Lisa and Ellie.  It turned out to be a really wonderful day with spectacular weather and lovely company.

Last weekend was fun to the 10th power. (I asked Steve about the exponent key but he wasn’t hopeful about its existence, so I quickly gave it up and went for longhand.)We are all very grateful for you.
