Fire Hose
It took Carson some convincing, but once he saw another little boy try this out he gave it a shot. And he loved it. I like how serious his face is here.
We went to the Missouri City Fire Station open house with some friends today. I’m already planning to go again next year, and find out when the other cities around us are having theirs. The firemen and women were so friendly and welcoming and were great with all the kids. They did a rooftop rescue and had a fire house where they taught the kids what to do if a fire starts in their house. AND Carson got a free firehat which is perfect because we needed one to go with his Halloween costume.
The only bad thing is that it was so hot and humid and there was no breeze. October in Houston. I am ready for a cool down, and they say one is coming tomorrow…
After we left the fire station we went to lunch at Chick fil A (no surprise there). Betsy fell asleep on the way home and Carson was exhausted, but managed to make it home without crashing.
After short naps we went on a bike ride which was surprisingly wonderful. I even took my hand off the handle bar to itch my face! I had a bad experience as a kid where I chipped my two front teeth trying to ride without hands. And then the summer before Ben and I got married he bought me a road bike and got me out on it…but he and I both overestimated my cycling abilities and put me in clipless pedals. It was rough, to say the least, and it took Ben a good 5 years to get me on a bike again. All of us out together riding bikes is something I know he’s been looking forward to.
