At the Doctor

We leave for LA tomorrow, which means I have tons to do, and I don’t have the mental capacity to plan out how to get it all done in an efficient way.  Thankfully our flight doesn’t leave until after lunch.  One of the things I needed to do today was get Ginger to the Hartmans.  I had her set up to board at a place down in Sugar Land, but Carrie offered to keep her and I know Ginger will be happier with people she knows and loves than in a place she was in a year ago and with people she won’t remember.  Before I brought Ginger I had to get her some dog food.  I had to take Carson to his 3 year check up after we dropped her off.  So we left the house at 9:15, got food, went to Carrie’s, then went to the doctor’s office and got there 15 minutes before Carson’s 10:50 appointment.  I thought it would be good that we were early.  No the case.  We didn’t leave our appointment until 12:45.  It was a really rough morning.  Did you know they now recommend taking blood pressure of 3 year olds?  Crazy.  What 3 year old do you know will understand that a band around their arm that squeezes it is going to be OK?  Carson flipped out, which wasn’t surprising.  I wish I’d just said no, we’re not doing this.  That happened near the beginning of our time with the nurse, and set the rest of our appointment on a bad course.  After that you want to look in my kids eyes, ears and in his mouth and check in his diaper?  No way is that going to happen without a fight.  And while I am holding Carson down Betsy is screaming in her stroller because her brother is being tortured.  Then Carson got a flu shot.  Awesome morning.  We cured it all with a trip to Chick-fil-A.

Thankfully when we got home they both took good naps and I finished wrapping gifts and doing laundry.  I packed up the kids clothes and mine, but still have more things to do before we leave tomorrow.  Traveling and being gone for a week with kids requires a lot of stuff!  I am really looking forward to the break and spending some time with Ben’s family.
