Merry Christmas!
I am so thankful to have married into this family. In talking to my sisters over the last few days we all expressed a desire to be together because we have a lot of traditions that we don’t experience with our in laws. My family is a little ridiculous when it comes to Christmas traditions. We always eat the same meals for Christmas Eve and Christmas morning and Christmas dinner. And we always watch Les Miserables on Christmas Day. No exception! We bring a copy of it with us if we’re traveling. We make and eat the same cookies. We always do presents and stockings separately, one before breakfast and one after. And people get a little miffed when some part of that doesn’t or cannot happen. So when we’re not together we miss those things. But I think I am among a small group of people who really enjoys her in laws. Things are different when I’m not with my family, but I love being with the Ben’s family. Having good in laws is pretty special.
Today we had Swedish pancakes for breakfast.
Then we took a walk.
Then we went to Chris’s to do stockings.
Tonight we had Christmas dinner.
Not sure why I thought it was a good idea to sit these two next to each other. Betsy kept stealing Carson’s food even though she had the same things in front of her. Everything was delicious! I went back for seconds at around 10:30 this evening.
On our way home we went to look at some Christmas lights that are synchronized with music on a radio station.
The kids (and I!) really loved it. The last song they played was Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer and Carson demanded it be sung 3 times on the way home. Of course we complied with his request. It was a really fun and enjoyable day. Merry Christmas!
