NYE 2013

Had a fabulous time with these fine people tonight to celebrate and ring in 2014!  It was a busy day for us.  We headed to Texas Direct Auto to look at and drive some cars at 10am and by 2pm we’d decided to buy a Toyota Sienna.  Yes, a minivan.  A new era has begun for us.  A Nissan Armada was my first choice, but just not practical.  I don’t want to be that minivan mom, but I really don’t want to be that mom who puts her desire to drive a sexy car over her desire to drive a car that is easy on her kids and truly more convenient and practical for everyone.  Carson couldn’t climb into the Nissan on his own and since he’ll have to do a lot more for himself after the new baby is born it just wasn’t a good choice.  After we decided on the van I took the kids home for naps and to get ready for the evening.  Ben was up at the car place until 6:30.  Apparently they sold an incredible number of cars today and it was taking a much longer time than usual.  Thanks to Ben for suffering through the wait for us.

We headed to the Hartmans around 7, put together all the yummy food, I got the kids to bed, and we spent much of the rest of the night watching A&M battle Duke in the Chick-fil-A bowl and eating too much fondue.

We managed to put up a photo backdrop and even with no experience, few supplies and not a lot of time it was a really fun thing that produced some pretty wonderful photos and memories.

At midnight we had champagne and smore’s by the fire outside and then stayed up too late.  Betsy waking up at 7 came too early.

As I write this last post of 2013 and my last day of the 365 project, I find myself both relieved that my days of worrying about getting a post up everyday are over, and sad that I won’t have a day by day account of what the next year brings.  I’m brainstorming now about what to do in 2014.  Having a project on the blog was how I managed to keep up with it, and I love that I can look back on the good and the bad days of 2013.  I won’t be doing a Project 365 in 2014, maybe a picture and post a week?  Project 52?  I also thought about focusing on Hottie Biscotti more.  I have a lot of ideas, but know that if I try to do them all I won’t do any of them.  So we’ll see.

Happy New Year!  Hope 2014 is wonderful!
