Monday: Carson had the day off of school. While I originally planned to take the kids to the zoo, I opted to get groceries and do some stuff around the house instead. On the way home from errands I stopped to get lunch for me and the kids. Betsy fell asleep just as we got home but was limp as a noodle when I took her out of her carseat, so I put her down. Carson and I had lunch just the two of us. Tonight I tried the kids in the same room to start the evening, but they didn’t last long.
Tuesday: We had bible study this morning at Sugar Creek, and as we were trying to leave Carson threw a major fit. I was holding Betsy and was trying to get Carson up off the floor where he’d planted himself as a way of showing me his seriousness about not leaving. Long story short, I ended up getting some help from a sweet woman who worked with the children at the church. She carried Betsy to the car and I carried a screaming Carson. He screamed the entire way home. Tried nap in the same room but soon moved Betsy to the pack n play. This evening we had small group so I didn’t even try them in the same room so that no one had to listen to the crazy screaming and laughing that typically ensues at bedtime.
Wednesday: After taking Carson to school Betsy and I ran a few errands and then came home. We ordered a play house last week and it came this morning! I decided it would be a great idea to put it together. I almost finished before we had to get Carson. I finished it after we got home and Carson spent most of the rest of the afternoon in the house. He asked multiple times if we could get Betsy up so that she could play with him. She took a great nap today and didn’t get up until 5! After the kids ate dinner they played outside in the house a lot. I think it was a good purchase. We tried the kids in the same room. Carson started getting out of bed. I went up and told him he’d get a spanking if he did it again. He did. Spanking. He did it again. Spanking. And again, this time going over to Betsy’s bed and hitting her with a pillow. Big time spanking and I moved Betsy to the other room.
Thursday: This morning we met up with some friends at the park, played, fed some ducks, took a little walk back to our friends house, played a little there, ran a quick errand, then had lunch at Five Guys. We came home and the kids went down for naps. They ended up falling asleep in the same room! But then Betsy woke up crying and screaming after about 45 minutes. So while this was frustrating, it gives me hope that we’re on our way to successful room sharing!
Friday: We stayed home today and got some random stuff done, but not enough to make me feel like I really did anything. There is a lot of organizing that needs to be done (baby clothes, boxes of my old clothes, boxes of stuff still not unpacked from the move, etc.) and whenever I see it I kind of lose my mind and start to agonize over it. But instead of doing anything about it I just take a nap…
Carson took the next 3 photos. Not too bad for 3 1/2!
Saturday: After breakfast we all went to Great Clips so that Carson and Ben could get haircuts. Even though we had to wait a while the kids did well. We got a few groceries, then headed home. Ben suggested we try out to Houston Museum of Natural Science here in Sugar Land, so we went over there and spent an hour, then got Chick-fil-A on the way home. The cable guy came to replace our cable box that’s been giving us trouble for a year or so. Ben took a run, I hung out with Betsy. Then we took a walk to the park, came home, and grilled steak for dinner. Carson and Betsy both tried some and Carson really liked it. Ben was pretty glad about that.
Sunday: After church we came home and the kids played outside for a bit before naps. They were up for over an hour and I was up the stairs 8 times (yes, I counted) to deliver spankings to both guilty parties. I was mad at them both, mostly because Ben had taken a bike ride and I’d intended to take a nap while the kids did, so I lost my patience rather quickly. They finally fell asleep, about the time Ben got home, so I laid down and Ben said he’d get them if they woke up. When I woke up 2 hours later they were both still asleep! Betsy must have sensed I was awake though because she was up soon after I was. We went to Guru and had dinner, then walked over to the square and had ice cream before coming home for baths and bed. Writing all of this makes me realize what a full weekend we had!
