Not enough went on this week that I feel like I need a day-by-day account. My most favorite part was a trip to the Zinnecker lake house over the weekend. We had a great time and I enjoyed it more knowing that in a few weeks I will be tied to a newborn, but for at least a little while this weekend I got to sit in the sun and not do a thing. It was so nice to see and spend some time visiting with everyone.
Betsy is “talking” more. And by that all I mean is that I am starting to hear more distinct sounds and make out some “words”. She is by no means understandable to many people besides Ben and me, and maybe Carson. In fact, he might understand more than I give him credit for.
Carson is giving us more problems as a 3 1/2 year old. His defiance is now accompanied by new and nasty words of defiance and a new and improved attitude of selfishness. We’ve been giving more spankings lately, it feels like. And that’s pretty frustrating. I guess I kind of expected him to gradually get better at obeying, being kind, etc., but instead it’s more like a pendulum where we go through periods of great behavior and periods where I wonder if he’s listened to a single thing I’ve ever said to him. But after the tantrums over getting in trouble for taking something from Betsy or hitting her with a baseball bat, or for seemingly nothing, he eventually returns to his sweet self. Overall his behavior is good and I love seeing him become more of the little boy he’s growing in to. I sure do love him.
And here is our week in pictures.
