Starting them early<\/em><\/p>\n

I’d like to say we have 2 budding musicians on our hands, but Carson pretty much just banged as hard as he could and Betsy’s hands just aren’t quite big enough yet. \u00a0But it was fun to have them both play together.<\/p>\n

This morning we spent some time at my parents house, Round Rock donuts and Ole Taco for breakfast followed by a food coma. \u00a0We headed to Kate and Steve’s around 11, had lunch, got to see Claire and then got on the road.<\/p>\n

Of course traffic was bad in Bastrop. \u00a0It almost always is. \u00a0This time it was due to a fire at a fireworks warehouse. \u00a0We probably spent a solid 30 minutes in stop and go traffic on a stretch of road that would normally take 5 minutes, maybe 10. \u00a0Carson and Betsy had fallen asleep before we got stuck and of course they both woke up. \u00a0We finally got through the traffic. \u00a0Betsy started to cry after I moved back up to the front seat but eventually calmed down and slept until Rosenburg, about 10 minutes away from home. \u00a0She was in good spirits and Ben and I were discussing what to do for dinner and how I needed to run to the store to get some things to make a cake for a memorial service Monday morning. \u00a0Then the car breaks down as we’re stopped at a red light. \u00a0Ben got it started and managed to get us to a gas station before it died again. \u00a0He called AAA and I called some friends who were kind enough to bring me, Carson, Betsy, Ginger and our luggage back home. \u00a0The car got towed to a shop near our house and they brought Ben home. \u00a0We ordered pizza for dinner. \u00a0I used a cake mix for the cake and Ben, being the wonderful man he is, agreed to deliver it in the morning on his way to work since I wouldn’t have a car. \u00a0It was a stressful end to the weekend.<\/p>\n

On the bright side, though, the kids were fine. \u00a0We made it to a parking lot and weren’t trapped in the middle of the road. \u00a0We have AAA. \u00a0We have good friends who dropped what they were doing to come to our rescue. \u00a0We have a second car. \u00a0And this great guy who had stopped to get gas while we were waiting gave us some cold bottled water. \u00a0It was such a kind thing to do and I was so thankful to have something cold while we waited in the 100\u00b0 heat. \u00a0I am fairly confident that man does not read my blog, but I am so thankful for you and your kindness. \u00a0It made me realize what such a little thing can mean to someone who’s in a tough situation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
