\"\"<\/a>This table has undergone quite a transformation over the past two weeks. \u00a0I wish I had taken a before picture. \u00a0I am not sure where this table came from. \u00a0I am pretty sure Ben had it at his house in college which makes it at least 6 years old, and it isn’t exactly the most quality piece of furniture we have in our house. \u00a0Being moved 4 times has also taken its toll on the table. \u00a0I was planning on putting it out in the garage, but then thought that I might try to use it in the nursery. \u00a0The other tables I’d considered buying for the room were starting at $75, so if I could make this re-do work then I could save some precious cash.<\/p>\n

It began as a light colored wood table with some pretty nice dings and water rings. \u00a0The nursery has a lot of white furniture, so I decided to spray paint it white. \u00a0My original plan was to leave it white.<\/p>\n

While browsing a new crafty mommy website, \ufeff\ufeffPrudent Baby<\/a>,\u00a0I somehow clicked my way on to a site that had some decoupaged furniture. \u00a0Here is where I found<\/a> the how-to for the table. \u00a0Did you know that you can decoupage fabric on to furniture? \u00a0Well, you can! \u00a0My can of Mod Podge and sponges from my college days could be used for something besides collaged picture frames!<\/p>\n

I had a piece of polka dot fabric left from the baby bedding, so I figured I’d try this on the table since painting the table didn’t hide all the water damage on the top. \u00a0I didn’t have a lot to lose since the table was free and I had everything I needed already. \u00a0If I failed, well, then I would just go get a new table.<\/p>\n

Here is the table painted white.<\/p>\n

I measured the dimensions of the table and cut the fabric to fit. \u00a0I had to do some trimming to get it right, and it still wasn’t perfect.<\/p>\n

The instructions say to use hard coat Mod Podge, which I did not have and could not find at the craft store. \u00a0So, regular matte Mod Podge would have to do.<\/p>\n

Using a sponge brush, apply a coat of Mod Podge to the table.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Carefully lay the fabric onto the table pressing out wrinkles and air bubbles without stretching the fabric.<\/p>\n

Let this coat dry for at least 1 hour. \u00a0Then begin applying the Mod Podge to the fabric. \u00a0Let dry completely between coats. \u00a0I coated the table a total of 5 times.<\/p>\n

Some of the things I read recommend a coat of sealant, which I will do once I can get myself to remember to buy some. \u00a0I also may need to sand some corners as there are some rough spots.<\/p>\n

I think the table looks pretty cute in the room, and hopefully it will last for at least a little while.<\/p>\n
