It is January 1, 2015! \u00a0Happy New Year! \u00a0I am trying my best to finish the last two weeks of 2014 today. \u00a0Unfortunately it all seems like a blur, especially the past 10 days, as I go through pictures on my phone and try to piece together what happened over the last couple of weeks. \u00a0It also feels like much longer ago than just 2 weeks, so I am sure I am forgetting something important, but I think I’ve got the highlights.<\/p>\n

I ran a little daycare on Monday morning! \u00a0Carson and Betsy enjoyed having Cooper and Graham over and took great naps after such a busy and fun morning.<\/p>\n

\"51-52-20\"<\/a> \"51-52-18\"<\/a> \"51-52-17\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This week at school was the last for Carson before Christmas break. \u00a0They did some fun things this week and Carson has learned quite a few Christmas songs that he’ll sometimes sing for us. \u00a0Christmas this year is different because Carson now kind of gets Santa, and he’s more aware and interested in it all. \u00a0I’m trying my best to emphasize that Jesus is the real reason we celebrate, and so often when we talk about Santa and gifts and all that I ask him who was born on Christmas. \u00a0He pretty much always says, “baby Jesus!” and I’m hoping that in the years to come he’ll understand the importance of that. \u00a0We also have a couple of nativities that they play with and we’ll talk about who everyone is. \u00a0Unfortunately with a 2 and a 4 year old all the pieces are hardly ever there at the same time. \u00a0I found a donkey and a sheep in the bathtub the other day.<\/p>\n

He and Betsy both love Jingle Bells and after hearing “Wonderful Christmastime” on the radio in the car this week they were both hooked and asked to hear it again. \u00a0Carson sings, “sleep in heaven, wonderful Christmastime” instead of “simply having, a wonderful Christmastime”. \u00a0I don’t correct him. \u00a0Betsy loves candy canes (eating and seeing them) and all the lights and decorations. \u00a0I loved watching them both enjoy this season.<\/p>\n

The girls had one last wine and cheese night before Shallan and Christian moved to Boerne. \u00a0It was a lot of fun but sad to think that things won’t be the same. \u00a0We love you, Van Kleefs!<\/p>\n

Carrie and I went to an event Claire was a part of on Thursday night and afterward we had drinks and dinner at Hay Merchant. \u00a0It was so much fun. \u00a0Ben, you’re a great husband and dad. \u00a0Thanks for letting me go.<\/p>\n

Carson had his 4-year well check on Friday. \u00a0He did so much better than last year! \u00a0He got on the scale to be weighed, stepped back to be measured, got his blood pressure checked and everything all without crying. \u00a0When they did the hearing test instead of holding up his hands to let her know he heard the noise he’d just look up and whisper, “I hear something!” \u00a0He bombed the eye test, but I’m fairly confident he was just too distracted. \u00a0He had to get 3 shots, but he was a trooper.<\/p>\n

We met Ben for lunch after that.<\/p>\n

We saw Claire again on Saturday morning for a late breakfast.<\/p>\n

That afternoon we decorated our gingerbread house.<\/p>\n

On Sunday after church Ben and Carson went to see the Texans! \u00a0Ben said it was a little loud for Carson but that they had a good time.<\/p>\n

That night we had family Christmas. \u00a0Carson loved his gifts but when Betsy opened her puppy he forgot all about his gifts and just wanted hers. \u00a0It took a while for him to calm down. \u00a0The newness wore off after a couple days and they haven’t fought over it since then.<\/p>\n
