The past month has had me in an especially not terrific place when it comes to feeling “good” about how I’m doing life as a wife, mom and friend. \u00a0I end the day feeling like I haven’t accomplished a thing. \u00a0I also feel guilty about the way I’ve reacted to my kids since I’ve had little to no patience. \u00a0Same applies to poor Ben who sees me at my worst when he gets home from work and often bears the brunt of a bad day. \u00a0I feel like I am really busy, but I couldn’t tell you with what! \u00a0I feel unmotivated and defeated. \u00a0Thankfully I talked with a friend recently who is feeling the same way. \u00a0Maybe we aren’t yet ready for the humidity of Houston and it is breaking us down and making us feel un-energetic . \u00a0Maybe it’s the end of the school year, or stressful summer planning. \u00a0I don’t know the culprit for my current rut, but it is a nasty one and I am looking forward to getting out of it! \u00a0And I will. \u00a0Life is full of ups and downs, and don’t get me wrong,\u00a0I know that my life is great<\/strong><\/em>. \u00a0It just feels rough right now. \u00a0Please tell me that happens to everyone. \u00a0Emotional release over. \u00a0Much better.<\/p>\n

The problem with getting behind with a blog is that catching up is a…well, you know what it is. \u00a0It stinks. \u00a0There are photos to go through, way too many photos if you take them like I do. \u00a0And memories to access. \u00a0And with the way I’ve been feeling the idea of sitting down to get all of that together makes me tired and suddenly I have a headache or I remember that I need to sweep the floors as I step in some crumbs from snack time. \u00a0So I am going to do my best to recap the last month!<\/p>\n

Christopher: \u00a0he is cruising around furniture but not yet walking although he did take a few steps the other day! \u00a0He likes to balance standing up, he babbles, he blows raspberries, he laughs at Carson and Betsy and loves to play (as much as he can physically play with them anyway), he is eating a lot, he has stopped nursing and drinks mainly water (I did give him some whole milk the other day) when he is angry, tired, hungry, lonely he lets you know it. \u00a0He sleeps through the night. \u00a0He takes a morning nap (9 until 10:30 or 11) and an afternoon nap (2 until 3:30 or 4). \u00a0He is a happy baby 99% of the time.<\/p>\n

Betsy: she is a lot of fun, but has the beginnings of an attitude! \u00a0She is not a pleaser like Carson was at her age. \u00a0She pushes back quite a bit and doesn’t obey easily (I know this is more a 2 1\/2 year old problem and not just Betsy!) \u00a0She is a picky eater. \u00a0If she could she would drink milk and eat yogurt, bananas, cheese, cheese crackers and fruit snacks for every meal. \u00a0She is expressing little interest in the potty, but I am planning to try a little potty training boot camp now that Carson is out of school. \u00a0She likes to dress up in tutus and be a princess. \u00a0She loves swim class and has overcome her fear of the slide. \u00a0She is a nurturer! \u00a0She loves Christopher and gives him hugs and kisses often. \u00a0She also tries to comfort him when he’s crying by bringing him toys or his pacifier. \u00a0She speaks well and I can understand a lot of what she says, but certain words are hard to make out.<\/p>\n

Carson: he just finished school and has definitely grown over the past year. \u00a0He is better at expressing himself when he gets upset (but sometimes still just screams and can’t find any words). \u00a0And I can’t think of any specific examples, but we’ll be sitting around doing something or out somewhere and he’ll surprise me with knowing some piece of information that I am sure he learned at school. \u00a0He is a good big brother, but often takes that job too far and bosses everyone around. \u00a0The other day he told me, very seriously and sweetly, “Mom, when we get home you really need to apologize to me for taking my legos away.”<\/p>\n

And now more photos! \u00a0When I originally went through the photos from just after Easter until now I opened up 115 to edit. \u00a0So if you think I posted a lot, just think of how bad it could’ve been!<\/p>\n

We’ve been spending time outside. \u00a0The weather is warm but not too warm, yet…<\/p>\n

We spent a weekend in Austin with Kim and Mille, and Jennifer and Henry. \u00a0We had a great time. \u00a0I am thankful for friends who were great college companions (10 YEARS AGO!<\/em>) and are now great moms who I admire. \u00a0My only complaint is that we do not live closer and see each other more often!<\/p>\n

We went to the zoo on a most amazing spring day.<\/p>\n

We went to an Astros game with the Hartmans!<\/p>\n

Betsy had her first real bout of sickness. \u00a0It was not fun for anyone, but she sure was cute asleep.<\/p>\n

My parents came down for Mother’s Day weekend.<\/p>\n

Ben and I went to see Sufjan Stevens (even though Ben wasn’t feeling 100%)<\/p>\n

Christopher had his first faceplant.<\/p>\n

Sarah and Lane came to visit! \u00a0We had a lot of fun, but some things we could have lived without (if you were there you know what I’m talking about!)<\/p>\n

Pitch Perfect 2!!! \u00a0It was so very wonderful.<\/p>\n

Carson is getting his beginners lessons in steak from Ben. \u00a0There is a lucky toddler girl out there who will one day be the one who Carson chooses to grill steaks for :)<\/p>\n

The kids started and ended a 2 week swimming boot camp in April and are currently taking more lessons and love the water.<\/p>\n
