I remember a year ago today perfectly. \u00a0At exactly this time 1 year ago, Carson wasn’t officially here yet. \u00a0We were at BSA, and had been there since about 7am. \u00a0Carson didn’t arrive until 9:58pm. \u00a0People always make a terrible face when I tell them this. \u00a0You were in labor ALL DAY<\/em>? \u00a0We went to the hospital earlier than we needed to. \u00a0Ben was supposed to lead worship at church that morning, so we went early just to see if I was really in labor, and I was. \u00a0We were in the very early stages, but they kept me there anyway. \u00a0So my time in the hospital was long, but not bad. \u00a0It was actually a blessing that it took so long because that gave Ben’s parents and my mom time to drive up from Austin. \u00a0Carson knew that he should take his time so that his grandparents would get to see him when he got here. \u00a0Smart kid.<\/p>\n

This morning after Carson’s bottle I thought, “This morning is missing something”. \u00a0It’s his birthday, and even though I know he won’t remember a thing about it, I will. \u00a0My family always did breakfast in bed on someone’s birthday. \u00a0Carson almost always wakes up before me, and breakfast in bed for a 1 year old sounds really messy, so I decided that a special breakfast would do. \u00a0I amazingly had what I needed for pancakes, so I whipped up a little batch and made some miniature pancakes.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

He ate 2 out of the 5 in this stack. \u00a0So I ate one and we’re saving the rest for tomorrow.<\/p>\n

He liked them.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

His doctor’s appointment isn’t until tomorrow, so we’ll see how he’s doing in growth and development. \u00a0But I can already tell you that he is gaining weight like crazy, moving around quickly and “talking” like it’s going out of style. \u00a0I am so thankful for him and the blessing he’s already been in our lives after just 1 short year! \u00a0Happy birthday, little man.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
