{"id":1153,"date":"2009-07-14T21:28:21","date_gmt":"2009-07-15T03:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/?p=1153"},"modified":"2009-07-24T18:12:00","modified_gmt":"2009-07-25T00:12:00","slug":"cheater-apple-dumplings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/2009\/07\/14\/cheater-apple-dumplings\/","title":{"rendered":"Cheater Apple Dumplings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I haven&#8217;t had my camera for a few weeks now, but I&#8217;d been doing pretty good remembering to take pictures with my iphone. \u00a0Unfortunately, the last few yummy things I&#8217;ve made haven&#8217;t been photographed before being consumed. \u00a0This is one of those things, so here is the picture from <a href=\"http:\/\/thepioneerwoman.com\/cooking\/2008\/02\/apple_dumplings\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Pioneer Woman&#8217;s<\/a> website, where I got this delicious recipe.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1154\" title=\"apple dumplings\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/apple-dumplings.jpg?resize=420%2C278\" alt=\"apple dumplings\" width=\"420\" height=\"278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/apple-dumplings.jpg?w=420 420w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/07\/apple-dumplings.jpg?resize=300%2C198 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 420px) 100vw, 420px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I usually make fun of recipes like this that use pre-prepared foods like canned crescent rolls. \u00a0And Mountain Dew&#8230;what is this all about? \u00a0But these looked and sounded too good to shun on the basis of a few ingredients.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->With the help from my good friend Carrie, we changed a few things in the recipe, like the amount of butter and sugar as\u00a0well as slicing the apples in thinner slices. \u00a0These dumplings are ridiculously easy to put together and also ridiculously delicious. \u00a0I served them with Blue Bell vanilla ice cream. \u00a0You might get weak in the knees when you eat these, so be careful.<\/p>\n<h2>Apple Dumplings<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>2 Granny Smith apples<\/li>\n<li>2 cans crescent rolls<\/li>\n<li>1 stick butter<\/li>\n<li>\u00be cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd teaspoon cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1 small can Mountain Dew (8 oz.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding: 0px; margin: 0px;\">Cut apples into \u00a0thin slices. Roll a few apple slices in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 pan. Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir, and pour over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
