{"id":2233,"date":"2009-10-31T09:44:43","date_gmt":"2009-10-31T15:44:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/?p=2233"},"modified":"2009-11-14T20:32:45","modified_gmt":"2009-11-15T02:32:45","slug":"witch-hat-cookies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/31\/witch-hat-cookies\/","title":{"rendered":"Witch Hat Cookies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2242\" title=\"witch6\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/witch6.jpg?resize=180%2C295\" alt=\"witch6\" width=\"180\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/witch6.jpg?w=300 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/witch6.jpg?resize=183%2C300 183w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/>Happy Halloween! \u00a0I made these cookies for the trick-or-treaters at Ben&#8217;s office. \u00a0I thought they would be more fun than little bags of candy, and too cute for words. \u00a0I also thought they would be quick and easy. \u00a0Cute, yes. \u00a0Quick and easy, kinda.<\/p>\n<p>This Halloween treat can be made in a day, but I spread the preparation out over 3 days.<\/p>\n<p>Day 1: Bake <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/?p=2217\" target=\"_blank\">chocolate sugar cookies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Day 2: Brush ice cream cones with chocolate and let set.<\/p>\n<p>Day 3: Assemble &amp; decorate hats.<\/p>\n<p>My original plan was to make royal icing to decorate the hats, but as the deadline approached and a stack of about 100 papers needed grading, I broke down and bought tubes of Wilton icing in orange, black, green and purple. \u00a0As I completed the last hat I was very thankful that I&#8217;d made this adjustment. \u00a0Sometimes you just have to take shortcuts.<\/p>\n<p>The Wilton icing tubes are pretty great. \u00a0You simply attach Wilton decorating tips and get creative. \u00a0It&#8217;s easy to switch out tips and the colors are nice and vibrant. \u00a0It&#8217;s often hard to\u00a0achieve\u00a0really vibrant color when you color your own icing, so this saves time and the stress of\u00a0making the perfect color you&#8217;re looking for.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2241\" title=\"food5\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/food5.jpg?resize=553%2C415\" alt=\"food5\" width=\"553\" height=\"415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/food5.jpg?resize=1024%2C768 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/food5.jpg?resize=300%2C225 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/food5.jpg?w=1716 1716w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/food5.jpg?w=2574 2574w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 553px) 100vw, 553px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Witch Hat Cookies<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>24 chocolate sugar cookies<\/li>\n<li>24 sugar ice cream cones<\/li>\n<li>1 package chocolate candy coating<\/li>\n<li>2 large bags M&amp;M&#8217;s<\/li>\n<li>Various icings, sprinkles, decorations, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Melt chocolate coating according to package instructions.<\/li>\n<li>Use a pastry brush to coat all the cones with chocolate.\u00a0 I found it easiest to place a few fingers in the cone to hold it\u00a0while I brushed on the chocolate.\u00a0\u00a0Stand up\u00a0on parchment paper and let set.<\/li>\n<li>Fill the ice cream cone with your choice of candies. \u00a0Candy corn, M&amp;M&#8217;s, Skittles, whatever.<\/li>\n<li>Use some of the frosting to pipe around the base of the ice cream cone. \u00a0Top with the cookie and flip over to set.<\/li>\n<li>Decorate as desired.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>These are a fun treat and would make a fun party favor. \u00a0Happy Halloween!<\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0;float:none;height:70px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/31\/witch-hat-cookies\/\" send=\"false\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"400\" show_faces=\"true\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div><!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Happy Halloween! \u00a0I made these cookies for the trick-or-treaters at Ben&#8217;s office. \u00a0I thought they would be more fun than little bags of candy, and too cute for words. \u00a0I also thought they would be quick and easy. \u00a0Cute, yes. \u00a0Quick and easy, kinda.
