{"id":4608,"date":"2011-05-05T18:47:02","date_gmt":"2011-05-06T00:47:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/?p=4608"},"modified":"2011-05-05T18:47:02","modified_gmt":"2011-05-06T00:47:02","slug":"cinnamon-bread","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/2011\/05\/05\/cinnamon-bread\/","title":{"rendered":"Cinnamon Bread"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you bake at all, then you can bake this bread. \u00a0Not only is it incredibly easy, but the ingredient list makes me oh so very happy. \u00a0I almost always have every single item in my kitchen. \u00a0Glorious! \u00a0The only thing that I didn&#8217;t have was buttermilk and we all know how easy it is to make your own buttermilk, don&#8217;t we? \u00a0If not, see <a href=\"http:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/tips\/make-your-own-buttermilk\/\" target=\"_blank\">this blog<\/a>. \u00a0I do love Smitten Kitchen. \u00a0Her blog makes me hungry.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/cinnamon-bread.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4609\" title=\"cinnamon-bread\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/cinnamon-bread.jpg?resize=600%2C402\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/cinnamon-bread.jpg?w=600 600w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/cinnamon-bread.jpg?resize=300%2C201 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/cinnamon-bread.jpg?resize=150%2C100 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/cinnamon-bread.jpg?resize=400%2C268 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Back to the cinnamon bread.<\/p>\n<p>I made this for a neighbor who I made some cinnamon Amish friendship bread for a while back. \u00a0He kept asking me to make more of it, but I&#8217;d let my starter die and couldn&#8217;t do it. \u00a0I found this to be a great substitute and I can make it without having to keep feeding the friendship starter and making more loaves than I could ever hope to eat.<\/p>\n<p>The recipe is from allrecipes.com, <a href=\"http:\/\/allrecipes.com\/Recipe\/cinnamon-bread-i\/Detail.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">here is the link<\/a> to the original recipe. \u00a0I changed the method for mixing the batter together to something I was more comfortable with. \u00a0I doubt it makes much of a difference, if any. \u00a0For the topping I used 2 tablespoons of melted butter and about 3 tablespoons of cinnamon sugar I already had mixed up. \u00a0Maybe this mixture swirled on top of the batter made it rise up all weird in the center but not on the edges? \u00a0I don&#8217;t know. \u00a0It isn&#8217;t pretty, but it is good. \u00a0Enjoy.<\/p>\n<h4>Cinnamon Bread<\/h4>\n<p>Courtesy of allrecipes.com<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>2 cups all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>1 cup white sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1 cup buttermilk<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>2 eggs<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>3 tablespoons white sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons butter, melted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Directions<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease and sugar one 9&#215;5 inch loaf pan.<\/li>\n<li>Beat the oil and sugar, then add in eggs and vanilla.<\/li>\n<li>Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, 1 1\/2 teaspoons cinnamon, and salt then mix into wet ingredients, followed by the buttermilk. \u00a0Beat 3 minutes. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Smooth top.<\/li>\n<li>Combine 3 tablespoons white sugar, 1 1\/2 teaspoon cinnamon and butter. Drizzle topping over smoothed batter. Using knife, cut in a light swirling motion to give a marbled effect.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for about 50 minutes. Test with toothpick. When inserted it should come out clean.
