Brownie Bars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You have no doubt seen those bars on Pinterest, and floating around on the internet called slutty brownies. \u00a0I saw them posted on Pinterest by one of the last people I would have ever expected to allow the word &#8216;slutty&#8217; to appear before her eyes, much less repin a recipe with the word in the title. \u00a0I immediately clicked on it when I saw her pin. \u00a0These things are ridiculous, and I mean that in a very good way. \u00a0A layer of Oreo cookies is sandwiched between a chocolate chip cookie layer and a brownie layer. \u00a0They make my mouth water and I&#8217;m pretty sure that looking at them just made my yoga pants stretch out a little more than they already were. \u00a0By the way, I did not do yoga in these pants today. \u00a0In fact, I did nothing. \u00a0Oh no, I vacuumed. \u00a0That&#8217;s something.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">So here they are. \u00a0The slutty brownies. \u00a0And don&#8217;t you see what I mean? \u00a0Don&#8217;t you just feel a little fatter after looking at them?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sluttybrownies.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4881\" title=\"sluttybrownies\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sluttybrownies.jpg?resize=500%2C329\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"329\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sluttybrownies.jpg?w=500 500w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sluttybrownies.jpg?resize=300%2C197 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sluttybrownies.jpg?resize=150%2C98 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/sluttybrownies.jpg?resize=400%2C263 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo from <a href=\"http:\/\/whatsgabycooking.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">whatsgabycooking.com<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the link I clicked on led me to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelondoner.me\/2011\/06\/slutty-brownies.html\" target=\"_blank\">the Londoner<\/a>. \u00a0She uses boxes of mix, which is totally fine in my opinion, especially with something called slutty brownies. \u00a0The easier the better. \u00a0Another recipe, from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/whatsgabycooking.com\/slutty-brownies\/\" target=\"_blank\">What&#8217;s Gaby Cooking<\/a>,\u00a0uses scratch made cookies and brownies. \u00a0I typically don&#8217;t have that kind of time or patience, so I admire you, Gaby! \u00a0Jessica Simpson is apparently <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodista.com\/blog\/2012\/03\/14\/jessica-simpson-slutty-brownies#\" target=\"_blank\">craving these brownies<\/a> during her pregnancy, and I don&#8217;t blame her.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shortbreadbrownies.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4879\" title=\"shortbreadbrownies\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shortbreadbrownies.jpg?resize=694%2C524\" alt=\"\" width=\"694\" height=\"524\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shortbreadbrownies.jpg?w=694 694w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shortbreadbrownies.jpg?resize=300%2C226 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shortbreadbrownies.jpg?resize=150%2C113 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/shortbreadbrownies.jpg?resize=400%2C302 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now that you&#8217;re expecting to see how my slutty brownies turned out (and how much weight I gained after eating the entire pan), I did not actually make slutty brownies. \u00a0I just wanted to talk about them. \u00a0But I <em>did<\/em> make a three layered bar that brings together shortbread, dulce de leche and brownies. \u00a0I made the shortbread cookie and used a can of dulce de leche and a box of brownie mix. \u00a0I think they would have been better with a scratch brownie, which really isn&#8217;t all that hard to do and I wish I&#8217;d done it. \u00a0Next time.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone seemed to like these. \u00a0The salt was nice next to the sweetness of the brownie. \u00a0The combination of textures, crunchy, sticky and gooey was quite delicious. \u00a0The only changes I might make would be to use more dulce de leche and, like I said above, make a scratch brownie. \u00a0You could add chocolate chunks or nuts to the brownies, I&#8217;d probably use pecans, but I&#8217;m biased. \u00a0Toffee pieces might also be really tasty, but that might be overdoing it&#8230;but not as over the top as the slutty brownies,<\/p>\n<h3>Shortbread, Salted Dulce de Leche &amp; Brownie Bars<\/h3>\n<p><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Shortbread Layer<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 cup butter, cold and cut into cubes<\/li>\n<li>2 cups flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons cornstarch<\/li>\n<li>pinch of coarse salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Dulce de Leche<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>1 can of dulce de leche<\/li>\n<li>a couple pinches of flaked sea salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>Brownie Layer<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>1 family size brownie mix (for a 9&#215;13 pan)<\/li>\n<li>ingredients called for on the box (eggs, oil, water)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><em>Directions<\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Shortbread Layer<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Pulse all ingredients in a food processor until mixture resemble coarse sand. \u00a0Do not overmix.<\/li>\n<li>Press mixture into a 9&#215;13 pan (greased if desired, I did not grease my pan). \u00a0Make sure to push the mixture slightly up the sides. \u00a0When you pour the dulce de leche on top you do not want it to touch the sides of the pan or it will burn and stick during baking.<\/li>\n<li>Bake at 325\u00b0F for about 20 minutes. \u00a0Let cool completely.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>Dulce de Leche<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Pour dulce de leche into a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 20 second increments, stirring in between, until it is smooth enough to spread easily.<\/li>\n<li>Spread dulce de leche over shortbread layer evenly, making sure it does not touch the sides of the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle salt evenly and lightly over dulce de leche.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div>Brownie Layer<\/div>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li>Prepare brownie batter according to package directions and pour evenly over the dulce de leche layer.<\/li>\n<li>Bake at 350\u00b0F for 40-45 minutes. \u00a0Check for doneness on the brownie layer and bake a little longer if batter is not cooked in the middle.<\/li>\n<li>Let cool for at least an hour before cutting.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0;float:none;height:70px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/2012\/04\/26\/shortbread-salted-dulce-de-leche-brownie-bars\/\" send=\"false\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"400\" show_faces=\"true\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div><!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You have no doubt seen those bars on Pinterest, and floating around on the internet called slutty brownies. \u00a0I saw them posted on Pinterest by one of the last people I would have ever expected to allow the word &#8216;slutty&#8217;
