She challenged us to take our taste buds on a joyride through the land of sugar and spice by baking three different types of Dutch sweet bread.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/dutchbread1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6852\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/dutchbread1.jpg?resize=858%2C711\" alt=\"dutchbread1\" width=\"858\" height=\"711\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/dutchbread1.jpg?w=1000 1000w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.hottie-biscotti.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/dutchbread1.jpg?resize=300%2C248 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 858px) 100vw, 858px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This bread has nice flavor. \u00a0It was chewy and is most delicious eaten toasted with a spread of butter.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m keeping this post short since I&#8217;m currently sitting at the kitchen table at my parents house. \u00a0So I&#8217;m off to spend some more time with them and laugh uncontrollably at silly things with my sisters. \u00a0Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!<\/p>\n<h3>Dutch Sweet Bread<\/h3>\n<p><em>Ingredients<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 large egg<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon agave\u00a0syrup<\/li>\n<li>1 cup <em>less<\/em> 2 tablespoons lukewarm water<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon ground gingerbread spices<\/li>\n<li>1\u00bc cup brown sugar, firmly packed<\/li>\n<li>2 cups whole-wheat flour (I used all purpose)<\/li>\n<li>1\u00be teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Gingerbread Spice Blend<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 tablespoons cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoons nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon cloves<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon cardamom<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon ground white pepper<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon ground coriander<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon ground ginger<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon ground anise<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon ground mace<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Directions<\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 350\u00b0F and grease and sugar a loaf pan.<\/li>\n<li>Put the egg, syrup, water, spices and brown sugar in a bowl. Whisk until everything is dissolved.<\/li>\n<li>Add the flour and the baking powder into the bowl and mix all the ingredients with a wooden spoon until the flour is wet.
