Driving Home

This picture of Betsy doesn’t really capture how funny she was being in the car.  She was holding on to the toes of her right foot and stretching it out the side of the car seat while squealing pretty loudly.  Carson slept through it all.

Happy Easter!  We had a lovely weekend in Austin and a delicious brunch this morning.  Ben and Steve went to church, the rest of us stayed home since Betsy was taking a nap and we were getting food ready.  I do wish we could have all gone.  It didn’t feel as much like Easter without an Easter service.  Easter is such an important holiday for Christians, but I know that I don’t treat it that way.  Carson’s not old enough to understand what it means that Jesus died and rose for him yet, but I hope to make Easter more than egg hunts and candy baskets for him, and for Betsy also.

We headed back to Houston today.  I wanted to leave in the early afternoon so that we could get home at a time that still allowed us to have some time to relax before starting a new week.  We ate an early Easter brunch with the family, Betsy took a nap, and after I fed her, we headed out.  It was 1:30.  After 2 accidents that had traffic at a standstill on 71 and I-10, a 45 minute nap for Carson, a 30 minute nap for Betsy and 3 and a half hours later, we got home.  It was 5:00 and pouring rain.  After unloading the car, Ben went on a run and I got the kids dinner.  Carson had a breakdown, Betsy woke up an hour after going down and didn’t fall asleep until 9pm.  I unwisely stayed up til 11 and Betsy woke up at 5.  I need more sleep.
