Just for the thrill of it

Diet Coke!  Get it?  Anyway.  Don’t worry, the can wasn’t open.  I do a lot of things that good parents aren’t supposed to do, but giving my kids diet soda or letting them play with sharp metal edges aren’t some of them.

Today was one of those days that feels like it lasts forever.  The minutes felt like hours.  But nothing terrible happened, and it wasn’t a horrible day.  However, I wasn’t a bit sad to see the day come to an end.

This morning I had to bring the car in to get the bumper repaired.  They called the car rental place when we got there but it took them a while to get to us.  Then we had to switch out car seats, drive back to the car rental place to do paperwork and then I had to go to the grocery store because we’d run out of milk that morning.  Carson and Betsy were troopers, but by the time we got back and had lunch everyone was ready for a nap.  It was 1.  Betsy slept til 2:30 and Carson slept til 3:00.  So we had hours to kill before dinner and baths.  Betsy wanted to be outside and Carson wanted to be inside, which wouldn’t have been too bad except that Carson wanted me to be inside too.  I finally convinced him that it would be fun to play with the water table, but that didn’t last long, so we ended up back inside.  5 o’clock finally came and we got our nighttime routine started.  Dinner, baths, pajamas and bed.  Betsy was in bed before 6:30.  I should have probably done the same thing!

On the bright side, I got some sweet pictures of Betsy outside.  This girl makes me smile every day.
