I think I might have posted either a 7 or 8 month photo, but figured I’d do them all just to make sure.

What a different baby Betsy we have on our hands than we did 6 months ago, and even just a month ago.  This time of infancy is full of changes.  I think the stage we’re in right now is so rewarding.  I am loving it.

  • She smiles a lot.
  • She laughs a lot and has a great belly laugh.
  • She likes to be tickled.
  • She reaches out for me and Ben.
  • She grins at Carson and squeals when she sees him.
  • She gets real excited when I bring her a mum mum cracker.
  • She gets mad when you take something away from her.
  • She “talks” a lot.
  • She claps.
  • She waves.
  • She says da-da and ma-ma.
  • She isn’t properly crawling yet, but scoots pretty quickly and can make it from one end of the living room to the other and get into something she shouldn’t in no time.
  • She likes to hold balls, roll them away and then scoot after them.
  • She is social and loves people.
  • She’ll smile and kind of tuck her chin if you smile at her.  So coy!

She is still nursing most of the time, but thanks to a weekend with my mom she now takes a sippy cup with a mix of formula and breastmilk.  She still is not a fan of full formula and I do not blame her.  I nursing her during the day and then give her a cup before bed.  She eats a total of 5 times a day.

She eats solids at breakfast, lunch and dinner.  She loves puffs and mum mums, and they’re really the only foods that she can feed herself.  I’ve started giving her little pieces of banana and she seems to do well with them, but I hesitate to try anything else because she still gags occasionally and it freaks me out.  She’s probably ready for more finger foods, and I probably just need to start doing it.

She is up around 6:30 every morning.  Down for a nap around 9 and up around 10.  Then another nap around 1, up around 3.  Dinner around 5, bath, then bed around 7.  That’s almost 12 hours of sleep, y’all!  I thought this day would never come.  Everyone is settling into this schedule nicely, which means it will now change.

Betsy weighed in at 17 pounds 12 ounces (31%) and was 28 inches long (67%) at her appointment.  Everything looked good.

She’s been pulling at her ears a little recently but hadn’t been having trouble sleeping or eating, so I wasn’t sure it was an ear infection or not.  I told the doctor about it.  She looked in her ears and said all was well.  Then she checked her mouth and said, “Oh, it looks like she’s getting her fang teeth in before her other top teeth.  Good thing she’s pretty!”  I don’t really know what to take from that comment!

And now some Betsy pics!
