Project 52: 1/52

Since the year ended I’ve kind of missed daily (or rather, catching up on 4 days at a time in one day) blogging.  This blog has become a journal for me and a way to remember what happened to our little family.  So while daily blogging was too much to tackle again, I figured a weekly review was doable.  I thought about how to do this, do I post every Wednesday since that’s officially when the new year started?  Do I do it on Sunday, since that technically starts the week?  Or Saturday since that’s the last day of the week?  I settled on Sunday, but here I am on Monday typing this up.  I guess you can expect a weekly review every week, on some day of the week.  It will be like a surprise!  Will it be today?!  But really, I will catch up weekly!  Not that more than 3 people are out there reading this blog, so it’s more for myself so that I don’t forget what happened and when.

The big news from last week…we bought a minivan!  With baby #3 on the way, we knew we needed something that could accommodate all of us, and all the stuff we now travel with when we go anywhere for an overnight stay.  You should have seen us at the airport when we went to LA for Christmas.  We traded in the Murano, a sad separation.  I really liked that car.  But the van has already proven itself to be a wise purchase and people tell me that once you go minivan it’s hard to go back.

We spent New Years Eve at the Hartmans with the Gilberts and Van Kleefs, and New Years day with the Mackenzies.

On January 2 we started potty training.  We stayed home almost all day Thursday and Friday and while we had a few pee puddles in the house on Thursday, Friday was better, and Saturday was much better.  We even went to the grocery store, a birthday party, and out to dinner without an accident.  He did have an accident at church.  He went with all the kids to the bathroom, sat on the potty, but did his business back in the classroom in his pants.  Good thing we brought extra underwear and pants!   He doesn’t wear diapers anymore.  He spends pretty much all day at home in no pants at all, pull ups at nap and night time, and either underwear or pull ups when we go out.  He is doing well and has even told me he needs to go to the bathroom a couple times.  He gets a sticker, a piece of chocolate and lots of praise and high fives when he goes.  Looking forward to having just one kid in diapers, for now anyway.

Pictures from the week.

Cleverly hidden privates.  Sat him on a beach towel everywhere he went.

Watching a movie to pass the time in the ridiculously long line at Chick-fil-A.  I promise not to abuse the use of the DVD player in the car again…

I’m sure that more than 3 people read this blog because you have 2 readers in this house and 2 others go to school at Regents. I LOVE the blog. Thanks for continuing it on a weekly basis.
