Monday: After dropping Carson off at school Betsy and I went to Home Depot and got some paint samples for the baby’s room and some plants.  It was a beautiful morning, so she and I spent some time in the backyard planting some herbs in containers and a flowering vine by the fence next to a trellis that I am really hoping survives.  We’ll see how it goes.  Did you know Houston dirt is really difficult to dig into?  I didn’t.  I felt very accomplished after getting this project done.

Tuesday: After bible study we picked up a few groceries and lunch before heading home for naps.  I had grand plans to get all the laundry done, but that didn’t happen.  No surprise.

Wednesday:  I met up with Carrie at IKEA today to look at some bedding for Carson and Betsy’s room.  I think I found something that will work really well, which is exciting.  I am looking forward to seeing it all come together, but there is still a lot of thinking and planning left to do.  I’m just not sure how sharing a room is going to work and how to make that transition for Betsy.  I think Carson will be ok with it.  Any room sharing advice is welcome!

Thursday: I haven’t been exercising at all for a while now besides the weekend walks Ben encourages us to go on.  But this morning I got the kids in the stroller and we took a long walk then played at the park.  It was so good for everyone.

Friday:  This morning we met with Lore, Cooper and Graham Mullins at the train next to zoo at Herman Park.  We took the train to a park where we played and picnicked for almost 2 hours.  We took the train back to the zoo and got in the car.  It was 1 and I was sure both Carson and Betsy would fall asleep on the way home and then not take naps at home.  Betsy did fall asleep, but woke up right when we got home.  I decided to put her down anyway.  She and Carson ended up taking 3 hour naps.  It was glorious.

Saturday: Ben took a bike ride, I took the kids on a walk and then to the grocery store.  They both took great naps again today.  The Hartmans came over for fajitas and to play video games.  We had a great time.

Sunday: It was a typical Sunday except for a walk to the grocery store, something we have never done even though it’s only about a mile from our house.  When we got back Carson asked to ride his bike, so he and Ben did that for a while before dinner.  It’s good to see him wanting to ride it since when we got it for him originally he had no desire to.

I love the next series of three pictures.  I was working in the kitchen, Carson was at school, and Betsy was playing.  She brought two of her favorite stuffed animals (a bunny and a pig) to the kid table we have in the kitchen and put them under the table and got under with them.  Then she went into the living room and picked up this big puppy dog and carried it over to the table.  Putting it up in a chair and then down on the floor, pulling it under the table with her and the other animals.  I LOVE that she’s doing stuff like this now.  She had an idea, made a plan and she carried it out.  Not sure what the purpose of it all was, but it made me smile.

I know every mom thinks her kid is super special, but seeing Carson get this excited, and then waving to people as we rode the train just solidified it for me!  I love him.
