Carson Things

Carson has done a few things in the past couple of days that have seemed worthy of remembering, at least to me.  They all just made him seem so grown up.  He’s doing things without being asked, and doing them on his own. Here they are.

  • While he and Betsy were eating breakfast I went in to my room to get dressed.  When I walked out I heard that water running and thought I might have left it on.  Instead I see Carson at the sink, he’d pulled a chair up to it, and he’s washing his hands, his plate from breakfast already on the counter.
  • I heard some noise one morning upstairs and knew it couldn’t be Ben since he was already gone.  I got out of bed and see that the upstairs light it on in the bathroom.  He’d gotten out of bed, moved the stool to turn on the light and was waiting by the potty for someone to help him.
  • I came downstairs from getting some clothes for Betsy and see Carson, who’d dropped some of the food from his plate crouched down on the floor picking each piece up.  I said, “Thank you, Carson!” and he says, “Hey, you’re welcome, mom.”

But then he does this and I know he’s still little.  “I’m chopping down the tree with the level, mom.”
