Oh man, I am late on this one.  I wrote some of this post last week when it was fresher on my mind, but in going through pictures I had a hard time remembering when I’d taken some of the pictures.  Thank goodness they’re in chronological order and have dates on them.  Otherwise, I’d be in trouble.

Monday: Carson went to school, as he always does, and Betsy and I went grocery shopping, as we usually do.  Of course I had big plans for that afternoon, but got little to none of it done.  We did do a lot of artwork today.

After Ben gets home Carson and sometimes Betsy will go into our closet while he changes clothes.  Sometimes Carson wants to wear the headlamp and “explore” in there with the lights off.  Tonight Betsy was interested in the headlamps, so Ben put it on her.  She wore it for quite a while and I think she enjoyed it.

The kids also had a dance party tonight while we watched The Voice.

Tuesday: My mom came in to help me paint the upstairs bathroom, as well as picking up a table for Sarah and dropping off a bouncy horse that was mine years ago.  It is really hard to paint with little ones around, but we managed.  By “we” I mean my sweet mother.  At lunch we took a break and went to Chick-fil-A.  I must have had more dried paint on my hands than I thought, the guy at the drive thru said “You guys must be painting!”  This evening we went to our last small group meeting of the semester.

Wednesday:  My mom and I finished painting the bathroom after I took Carson to school.  Again, mom did most of the work.  Then we ran a couple of errands and had lunch before going to pick Carson up.  Carson had a hard time saying goodbye to Mormor when she had to leave :)

Thursday: This morning we went to the park to play with a friend of Carson’s while his mom and little brother did a photo shoot for the little one’s 1st birthday.  After they were done with photos we played for a little while before the drizzle turned into rain and we headed home.  The kids took short naps.  We watched the draft, and I was disappointed that I wouldn’t get to root for Johnny Football on the Texans but am planning to become a Browns fan.

Friday: This morning we had to drive to Carson’s doctor to get some paperwork filled out for school for next year.  Since we were already in Houston we ran a few errands.  We came home and played for a while before naps.  Carson really likes to play in the baby’s room and has been bringing all his Legos in there instead of playing with them in the playroom.  Today I was too tired to fight it and just sat in there with them while they played.

After I put the kids down I discovered the switch on the washing machine was broken and the load of laundry I’d put in that morning was just sitting there in its old water and I couldn’t do a thing about it.  I wound up wringing everything out by hand and hanging it up around the house in the bathtubs and showers.  If you’ve ever done this, you know there is always a lot of water left in those clothes.  I found the part online (thanks to some help from Ben) and he got it on his way home and replaced it that night.  What a guy!  He also brought me roses home for Mother’s Day.

Saturday:  Ben took the kids on a bike ride and I went to get a mani-pedi.  It ended up taking a long time, so Ben got lunch for the kids.  He is super dad.  Carson and Ben spent some time looking at a map of Texas.

That afternoon we all took naps, then went and swam for a little while at our neighborhood pool.  It was still a little cold.  Betsy loved it, and even though all he could manage was sitting on the shallowest step, he didn’t want to leave.

Sunday:  After church we went to lunch, then home where I had a little break down after Betsy spilled the water out of Ginger’s bowl.  Then the kids and I took naps.  We went on a walk then got KFC for dinner.  For some reason fried chicken sounded really good to me.  Ben did a great job of reminding Carson that it was Mother’s Day.  More than a few times today he said “Happy Mother’s Day” and gave me a hug or told me he loved me.  Thanks for making it a great day, Ben :)
