My parents were here on Monday. Carson and my dad went to the park, mom, Betsy, Christopher and I ran a couple errands then we went to Five Guys for lunch. This balloon that Claire brought for the party was entertainment all week long :)
The only weekday that really stands out as I write this is Thursday. In the morning it was raining. I went looking for my umbrella but couldn’t find it. Carson had school that day so I decided to leave a little early so that I could park close to the door and make drop off easier. As I left I realized I was low on gas. I stopped on the way to school and was still on my way before I typically leave for school. But as I turned on to 90 I knew we were in trouble. Traffic is not usually a problem, but it took me 20 minutes to travel a distance that takes about 10 on a normal day. During that time I realized I’d forgotten Carson’s lunch at home. When we do get to school we ran through some rain, but it wasn’t too bad. I drive home, grab his lunch and then head back to school going a different way than I took earlier to avoid the traffic. I was able to park right next to the building this time so even though I had to take Betsy and Christopher out of the car it wasn’t bad. Then I drove to Carrie’s, and because of the ridiculous rain it took me longer than usual. When I got to her house I tromped through mud in sandals that are not meant to be worn in wet weather. But my time there with her and Shallan was lovely. By the time I picked Carson up from school the rain had stopped. When I got him from his classroom I was told that a kid in the other class (same classroom) had lice and that I should take precautions with Carson. He didn’t end up getting lice, thank goodness. Thursday was full of fun stuff, like discovering Betsy loves ramen noodles.
Other things of note this week:
Our kids are so much fun. I often feel a little like I’m not doing something exciting or impressive with my life, but I am frequently reminded of how worthwhile it is to be home with these three, even if no one looks at it and says, “Wow, what amazing things you’re doing!”.
I had breakfast with some friends from church Tuesday morning who also have kids in school with Carson.
I went to drink beer at a girls night on Wednesday and Ben stayed home with the kids because he’s awesome.
This happened.
I cut Betsy’s bangs…
On Saturday night the whole family went to an Astros game with the Hartmans and Van Kleefs. The kids did well and we had a fun time. It was nice of them to hit so many home runs that night, the kids loved watched the train go back and forth.
And I forget what night this was, but I love when Carson greets Ben like this when he gets home from work.
