We were in Round Rock on Monday and headed back home around nap time.

Betsy fell asleep almost immediately and was still asleep as we approached La Grange.  I had told myself we’d only stop for cookies if everyone was awake.  Just as I got to the exit Betsy and Christopher woke up!  It was meant to be :)

The rest of the week was fine.

I had lunch with Carrie on Thursday at Common Bond.  These macarons were really yummy, especially the peanut butter and jelly.  Betsy had an apple sauce and a croissant for lunch :)

We did a little shopping afterward.  I am now only a couple people away from finishing my Christmas shopping!  And I don’t feel the least bit crazy having done most of it by mid October.  I feel smart…and just a wee bit crazy.  I almost bought this, but couldn’t justify $65 for it.

This may be too much information for some of you, it’s poop talk, so move on if you’re not interested.  We’ve been having a lot of trouble with Carson pooping on the potty.  He has never once had an accident in his pants and does a great job peeing on the potty, even on his own.  But poop has been a huge challenge.  A while back he went a week without going and when I finally put a diaper on him he had a really hard time.  Recently he’s been pooping on the potty, but not without big time screaming and tears.  This week I think we had a little breakthrough.  Twice I asked him to pee on the potty and he got upset, I know this means he needs to poop.  I got him to sit on the potty, but he screamed so much and Christopher had woken up so I told him to go run around outside and when he was ready to com inside and poop on the potty.  I greatly emphasized not pooping in his underwear.  A few minutes later he came in, declared he needed to poop, took his underwear off and pooped on the potty!  He did this again a few days later.  No tears either time.  I think we’re on the road to a happier and healthier pooping experience.

This happened on Friday morning.  Sorry, but you know moms are obsessed with poop, don’t you?

On Friday afternoon we went to the Houston arboretum to see my friend Megan, who volunteers there.  The kids did a good job and it was a lot of fun.  Betsy’s favorite thing was the fish.  Carson loved listening on these phones.  When you picked them up and pressed a button they’d tell you about certain things in the tree.  After we left we picked up some cupcakes and headed home for naps.

On Saturday morning I had the news on and they were showing footage of some kids crying, I feel bad now that I don’t remember where it was.  Carson asked Ben what was wrong with the kids.  Ben did a great job of explaining that in certain parts of the world people are hungry and aren’t safe and how blessed we are to live where we do and have everything we need and more.  Then Carson says, “I think we should go there and help those people feel better.”  My heart just about exploded.  What an amazing thing for a 3 year old to say.

Some pictures of the little guy.
