“Stand still and let me take your picture!”
Carson’s haircut is kind of adorable. I wanted to take a picture of him this morning before school, but getting him to stand still isn’t always easy. So instead of posting a blurry shot, I “made” (uploaded pictures to this site) an animated GIF! Who knew it was so easy to make your own? I might be doing this again when I get another good series of photos. I can see myself wasting a lot of time messing around with this…
Recently Carson has started conversing a little better, able to carry on some sort of conversation and answer questions we ask him. Here are some of the highlights from the last couple weeks.
While driving talking about the “pretty trees”.
Me: “Carson, who made the trees?”
Carson: “God made the trees.”
Me: “Yes, He did! Who made Carson?”
Carson: “God made me!”
Me: “Who made Betsy?”
Carson: “God made Betsy.” And so on with mommy, daddy, Ginger, Papa Steve, Grandma, Mormor, Grandpa, etc.
Carson: “Who made God?”
Me:…
No one? He just IS? He always has been? Always will be? Kind of a hard concept to explain to a toddler, and to totally grasp as an adult. I guess I should start preparing myself for more situations like this one.
Last week Betsy tipped over Ginger’s water bowl. I was pretty irritated. While I was wiping it up Carson said, “It’s not so important, mom.” Such a wise child.
When he was getting his hair cut the lady had just finished clipping on one side. When I moved him so that she could get the other side he said with such despair in his voice, “Not again!” She and I both looked at each other and tried to hold back our laughter.
When he goes to bed there is a typical exchange between he and Ben as we head up the stairs.
Carson: “Goodnight, Dad.”
Ben: “Goodnight, buddy. You’re my favorite little boy in the whole wide world.”
And then sometimes Carson says he’s his favorite daddy, or he says I love you. But recently he’s been saying “Have sweet dreams, dad!” and to me sometimes he’ll say, “See you in my dreams!” which sounds so sweet, like he’s dreaming about me, but really I think it’s a combination of “sweet dreams” and “see you in the morning”.
I know there are other things I will remember once I post this, but that’s all I have at the moment.
